The King’s Coat started in 2003 in downtown Red Deer, offering military surplus, camping gear, and more. In December 2006 Scott Bloomfield left his career in management in the oilfield to purchase the business. In order to expand they moved The King’s Coat to its current location 5428 43 St, Red Deer to expand their inventory. Stop by the store and you will see a family owned and operated local business, that where service is key.

I remember as a child, many of my relatives served in the armed forces. One of my uncles, a fighter pilot with the 112th fighter squadron in the RAF, was killed and buried in Libya. Some of his memorabilia is on the mantle here in the store. My grandmother kept careful care of his things to honor his memory. While I did not serve in the military myself, the rich history of service and sacrifice in my family is a large part of the reason I own The King’s Coat in Red Deer.
